Elin Rosseland - Christian Wallumrød - Johannes Eick
The musicians in this trio are among the vanguard of Norway's 1990's jazz milieu.
All have played in numerous and diverse CD recordings over the years, including such names as Soyr, Airamero, Vigleik Storaas and Close Erase.
They started working together in 1996. Elin Rosseland and Johannes Eick had previously worked together in the band Fair Play, which released a CD ("Fair Play" - Odin 4027) in 1988.
The music on their debut CD comprises all original compositions, each rife with individual ideas from the musicians own personal kaleidoscope of colorful tonal expression. The trio exercise the art of improvisations and experimentation using a traditional jazz framework as its point of departure.
The music is solidly anchored in jazz foundations, yet incorporates impulses from electric sounds and musical genres. In a Nordic jazz context, this new recording points in one direction - ahead.
